Job Stories From Sullivan County, NY
Insulating a new construction in Wurtsboro, NY.
David Olsen recently purchased some land on the scenic waterfront of Wolf Lake in Wurtsboro, NY. He had the skeleton for a beautiful home framed up, complete with large windows overlooking the lake. The home's location on the lake made for a great view, but also concerns about ensuring the place was well-insulated in the summers and the winters.
David met with our expert Jay Storti, who was able to put together a proposal for the most ideal insulation solution possible. Our crew arrived on a snowy morning in October, well-equipped to take on the job in the inclement weather, and set to work insulating the space. Our crew installed open cell foam in the structure's cantilevers, exterior walls and exposed slopes.
Spray foam in an attic in Monticello, NY.
A contractor in Monticello, NY was building a home from the ground up and wanted to use the most efficient insulation possible for the home. Jay Storti, one of our insulation experts, was able to meet with him and measure the new construction. In less than a month FOAMCO was able to have a crew out at the location and installed spray foam insulation throughout the building. We used open cell foam in the attic gables, the exterior walls and the exposed slopes. We were able to spray 5.5" of R-22 foam in the attic and exterior walls and 9.25" of R-38 foam in the exposed slopes.
Crawlspace Insulation in Livingston Manor, NY
Linda R. had a crawlspace she used for storage that wasn't insulated well. It not only let cold air into her home but wasn't always ideal for storing her property. Thankfully, she met with Nick in April and by June had all of her concerns and issues taken care of!
FOAMCO's crew of hardworking spray foam installers were able to set Linda's crawlspace up with a vapor barrier to mitigate humidity and excess moisture, closed cell foam insulation, and intumescant coating as an ignition barrier. For the rim joists and the hatch doors, we used 3.5 inches of R-14 open cell foam. Now she doesn't have to worry about damage to her personal property and her home's energy's efficiency has increased!
Insulating A Bungalow - Barryville, NY
This property manager called us because he was looking to fully renovate a three-bungalow unit, which was approximately 1200 sqft. Because they were gutting the entire place they needed to remove and replace the existing insulation. Because of this, they believed that spray foam insulation would be the best because it is a set and forget insulation that they would not have to worry about replacing every time tenants left. To fix the issues at hand we spray four inches of closed-cell spray foam throughout the entirety of the building in order to tighten the thermal envelope.
Insulating A New Foundation Wall
This home's foundation wall was in complete disarray. Because of this, these homeowners had our sister company, Basement Systems Of New York temporarily support it while we knocked it down and rebuilt it from the ground up. Once this was completed Foamco was contracted to spray both spray foam insulation and intumescent coating on the interior of the foundation walls and the rim joist. By doing this the thermal envelope was 100% closed and their home is now protected from any and all fire issues.
Opening Up Sheet Rock To Remove And Replace Old Insulation - Mountaindale, NY
This homeowner contacted Foamco because their home was extremely drafty and they one could not pinpoint where they were losing heat and cool air from, but also because of this, they wanted to reduce the strain on their wallet.
After our Specialist inspected their home it was evident that they were losing energy from upstairs, more specifically their attic and their bedrooms. The reason for this was that the attic had been insulated with fiberglass insulation and over the years it being their degraded and stopped working. The bedroom's insulation was nothing but paper and because of these two reasons they were not heating and cooling their home, but the outside.
Once we were able to provide this information to them based on our expertise they contracted us to rip out and replace all their old insulation. once we had removed all their old insulation they had us insulate all their trouble spots with spray foam insulation to not only bring their home up to code but also to make their home much more comfortable and reduce the amount of money they spent monthly on utility bills.
Since completing their project they noticed immediately a reduction in their operating costs and a huge change in the comfort level of their home. They could not be happier with how their project turned out and they wished that they had done it sooner.
Spray Foam Mastery Transforming New Construction Project with Comprehensive Insulation - Livingston Manor, NY
Before our involvement, this home builder in New York and Pennsylvania relied on our expertise and quality workmanship for numerous projects. Building a strong relationship over time, the builder trusted us to take on a significant task: insulating a new construction home from top to bottom using spray foam insulation.
In the first and second-floor exterior walls, including the garage exterior walls and basement box beam, we applied 5.75" Agribalance Foam. This laid a foundation of insulation that would prove essential in maintaining a comfortable indoor environment.
For the slopes of the first and second floors, we implemented a robust layer of 12" Open Cell Foam. This strategic choice ensured optimal insulation, addressing potential heat loss through the slopes of the home.
In the garage ceiling, we used 7.25" Open Cell Foam, providing effective insulation in a critical area often prone to temperature variations.
Recognizing the importance of a well-insulated basement, we applied 3" closed-cell foam to the exterior walls. This step played a crucial role in regulating the temperature within the basement space.
To further enhance insulation in the basement, we installed 16" of Fiberglass Batt o.c. in the ceiling. This comprehensive approach aimed to create an energy-efficient and comfortable living space.
In specific areas like bathrooms, bedrooms, and specified walls on the first and second floors, we utilized Roxul-3 3" x 16" and Roxul-5 5" x 12", respectively. These additions further contributed to the overall insulation of the home.
The transformation was significant, with the home now boasting a comprehensive and efficient insulation system from top to bottom. Our commitment to quality workmanship and the builder's trust in our capabilities culminated in a construction project that prioritized energy efficiency and comfort for its future occupants.
