Before our involvement, this home builder in New York and Pennsylvania relied on our expertise and quality workmanship for numerous projects. Building a strong relationship over time, the builder trusted us to take on a significant task: insulating a new construction home from top to bottom using spray foam insulation.
In the first and second-floor exterior walls, including the garage exterior walls and basement box beam, we applied 5.75" Agribalance Foam. This laid a foundation of insulation that would prove essential in maintaining a comfortable indoor environment.
For the slopes of the first and second floors, we implemented a robust layer of 12" Open Cell Foam. This strategic choice ensured optimal insulation, addressing potential heat loss through the slopes of the home.
In the garage ceiling, we used 7.25" Open Cell Foam, providing effective insulation in a critical area often prone to temperature variations.
Recognizing the importance of a well-insulated basement, we applied 3" closed-cell foam to the exterior walls. This step played a crucial role in regulating the temperature within the basement space.
To further enhance insulation in the basement, we installed 16" of Fiberglass Batt o.c. in the ceiling. This comprehensive approach aimed to create an energy-efficient and comfortable living space.
In specific areas like bathrooms, bedrooms, and specified walls on the first and second floors, we utilized Roxul-3 3" x 16" and Roxul-5 5" x 12", respectively. These additions further contributed to the overall insulation of the home.
The transformation was significant, with the home now boasting a comprehensive and efficient insulation system from top to bottom. Our commitment to quality workmanship and the builder's trust in our capabilities culminated in a construction project that prioritized energy efficiency and comfort for its future occupants.
This newly built house was in the process of being completed by the contractor. Once everything was up to code they needed to have the house insulated before laying both sheet rock and other materials. Foamco was contacted to lay spray foam insulation. We were chosen to do this due to our high quality of workmanship, professionalism, time of install, as well the fact that the insulation we use has the highest R-rating available to keep both the home and owners warm/cool year-round.
This homeowner contacted Foamco because their home was extremely drafty and they one could not pinpoint where they were losing heat and cool air from, but also because of this, they wanted to reduce the strain on their wallet.
After our Specialist inspected their home it was evident that they were losing energy from upstairs, more specifically their attic and their bedrooms. The reason for this was that the attic had been insulated with fiberglass insulation and over the years it being their degraded and stopped working. The bedroom's insulation was nothing but paper and because of these two reasons they were not heating and cooling their home, but the outside.
Once we were able to provide this information to them based on our expertise they contracted us to rip out and replace all their old insulation. once we had removed all their old insulation they had us insulate all their trouble spots with spray foam insulation to not only bring their home up to code but also to make their home much more comfortable and reduce the amount of money they spent monthly on utility bills.
Since completing their project they noticed immediately a reduction in their operating costs and a huge change in the comfort level of their home. They could not be happier with how their project turned out and they wished that they had done it sooner.
The homeowner was struggling with high utility bills for her home and barn, which were built in the late 1930s or early 1940s. The thermal envelope was inefficient, causing heat loss and high energy consumption.
Upon inspection of the homeowner's properties, our team discovered a major issue. Both her home and barn were losing significant amounts of energy due to their stone walls and rim joists lacking insulation altogether. This created an open thermal envelope, allowing cold air to flow from downstairs to upstairs, making the living space uncomfortable and causing high energy bills.
To resolve this issue, Foamco took a comprehensive approach. Firstly, we protected the mechanicals in the homeowner's basement and prepared the area for spray foam insulation. We then applied two inches of closed-cell spray foam to the interior of the stone foundation walls, followed by three inches of closed-cell spray foam to their rim joists. This meticulous approach enabled us to fully seal the thermal envelope of the home, preventing any further energy loss.
The results of the project were truly remarkable. The homeowner noticed a significant improvement in the comfort level of their home, with stable indoor temperatures and no more drafts or cold spots. The most impressive benefit, however, was the dramatic drop in their utility bills.
Thanks to the comprehensive insulation solution provided by Foamco, the homeowner now enjoys improved air quality and a more energy-efficient living environment. They are thrilled with the outcome of the project and wish they had completed it years ago. At Foamco, we take pride in delivering solutions that provide both immediate and long-term benefits to our clients.
